Life Skills Arcade
Middle school Family and Consumer Sciences, grades 6 to 8
This is a full year of Family and Consumer Sciences for grades 6, 7 and 8, taught every day in a 40-minute period. Students pass a kitchen safety exam and then cook. They build a budget, run a market simulation, sew by hand and repair what they own, design a room to scale, learn how people grow and how families work, trace their food back to the farm, and finish the year by pitching a product to a panel. Every unit ends in something a student made, scored on a rubric they saw before they started. Every lesson on this site names the exact standard lines it teaches.

How this site is organised
The syllabus is what goes home. The scope and sequence places every one of the 180 days. Each unit page holds the unit plan, its lessons, its project and rubric, its assessments and its vocabulary. Each lesson page is the whole lesson, ready to teach from. Materials holds 282 handouts and slide outlines. The standards map lists every NYS module line and links to the lessons that teach it. Every page prints, and every page links to the plain markdown behind it.
